Location
The Kingaroy State School Campus is located in Kingaroy (shire population 12, 000), 207 kms North West of Brisbane and is part of the Wide Bay West Education District which services the township of Kingaroy and surrounding rural districts. The community consists of established residential areas, established rural areas, light industry and new rural industry growth areas.
Traditional primary production focus is rapidly changing to cater for new domestic and international markets. The seasonal nature of this rural economy will place ever-growing demands on facilities and programs. The mix of the community encompasses all echelons of the social class structure. It is characterised by a wide range of fairly complex social issues typical of the socio-economic mix and also the mix of rural, semi industrial, mining and service industries that are found in the area.
Curriculum
We plan using One School for our Curriculum to Classroom (C2C) Units. We have developed a Curriculum Framework which is accessible on our One Portal site – this outlines the links to our school based documents for curriculum within our school. We have planning meetings each term with the Head of Curriculum (HOC) and regular team meetings to moderate or discuss curriculum for each year level. Each teacher has a curriculum folder which contains school documents in relation to our curriculum. Our One Portal site also provides staff with access to our curriculum documents.
